Legacy of Leadership

In 1979, Maranatha Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Wallace Smith, purchased four acres of land on Oakvale Road with plans to build a new church, relocating from Highland Avenue in downtown Princeton, WV. Initially, the church had no intention of starting a Christian school, though Pastor Smith personally hoped for one for his children. Read full message >>>

Cathy Matherly is our friend, colleague, and leader. She has steered us through a turbulent time and continues forward as the tip of the lance. She is knowledgeable and steadfast. She inspires those around her to achieve more and be accountable. She shows compassion, faith, and an unparalleled moral compass. She bestows a love that flows down from her to the staff and every last student. She holds every knight close to her heart; for this reason, we show our appreciation.

This small corner of our digital space is hers. Watch for messages filled with direction, inspiration, and love. “Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and everyone that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God” (1 John 4:7). We hope she continues to administer our school and our hearts.
